Bookkeeping Services in Elizabethtown

Monthly bookkeeping for small businesses across Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana and Tennessee

Books you don't have to think about

Most small business owners don’t get into business because they love reconciling bank statements. You got into it because you’re good at what you do — and somewhere along the way the bookkeeping became a Sunday night problem.

We take it off your plate. Every month, we record your transactions, reconcile your accounts, and hand you financial statements that tell you what’s actually happening in your business. No backlog, no surprises in April, no guessing whether you made money last quarter.

Your Tax Solutions handles monthly bookkeeping for small businesses in Elizabethtown and across Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana and Tennessee. Because we also prepare tax returns, your books are built all year with filing season in mind.

What's included every month

  • Transaction recording — every sale, expense and transfer categorized correctly
  • Bank and credit card reconciliation — your books match your statements, every account, every month
  • Accounts payable and receivable — know what you owe and what you’re owed
  • Monthly financial statements — profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow
  • Year-end tax package — everything your return needs, organized and ready
  • Ongoing support — a real person who answers when you have a question
  •

The reports you'll get — and what they mean

Most owners have seen a profit and loss statement. Fewer have had anyone explain what to do with one. Here’s what you’ll have every month and why it matters.

Profit and loss statement

What came in, what went out, and what’s left. This is the one that tells you whether last month worked.

Balance sheet

What you own and what you owe on a given day. Lenders ask for this. So do buyers, if you ever sell.

Cash flow statement

Profit and cash aren’t the same thing. Plenty of profitable businesses run out of money. This is the report that shows you the difference before it becomes a problem.

We’ll walk you through them. You don’t need an accounting background to run your business by the numbers — you just need someone willing to explain them.

How we work

Our process is simple and transparent.

1. Consultation
We start with a conversation about your business, your current books, and what you actually need. No charge, no pressure.

2. Setup
We get access to your accounts, review or build your chart of accounts, and bring everything current. If you’re already in QuickBooks, we can usually work in your existing file.

3. Monthly work
We handle the books every month and send you your statements. You get a real person to call when something comes up.

Behind on your books?

If you’re months or years behind, you’re in good company and it’s fixable. We reconstruct back records, clean up miscategorized transactions, and get your accounts reconciled before we start monthly work.

There’s no lecture. We’ve seen the shoebox.

Who we work with

We work with small business owners across a range of industries, with particular depth in two:

Construction

Job costing, contractor and subcontractor payroll, equipment depreciation, and sales tax on materials. Construction accounting has its own rules and we know them.

Retail

Inventory, sales tax filings, seasonal cash flow, and point-of-sale reconciliation.

We also work with service businesses, trades, professional practices, and nonprofits. If you’re not sure whether we’re a fit, ask.

Bookkeeping and taxes under one roof

Most businesses use one firm for bookkeeping and another for taxes. That means somebody spends January untangling a year of records that weren’t kept with a return in mind.

We do both. Your books are maintained all year by the same people who file your return, which means fewer surprises, fewer missed deductions, and no scramble in the spring.

Sally holds an IRS Annual Filing Season Program Record of Completion. She and Debbie are both Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisors.

Frequently asked questions

How much does monthly bookkeeping cost?
It depends on your transaction volume, how many accounts you have, and whether payroll is included. We’ll give you a firm number after a short conversation — no obligation.

Do I have to use QuickBooks?
It’s what we work in and what we recommend, and both Sally and Debbie are certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors. If you’re already using it, we can usually pick up your existing file. If you’re on spreadsheets or something else, we’ll help you move.

What if my books are a mess?
That’s common and it’s fixable. We’ll assess where things stand, clean up what needs cleaning, and bring your records current before starting monthly work.

Do you work with businesses outside Kentucky?
Yes. We handle bookkeeping and payroll for clients in Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana and Tennessee, and prepare tax returns nationwide. Most of our work is done remotely.

Can you do payroll too?
Yes. Many of our bookkeeping clients also use us for payroll — wage processing, direct deposit, tax filings, W-2s and 1099s.

How do I get my documents to you?
However works for you. Secure file upload, email, or drop them off at our Elizabethtown office. Most clients connect their bank feeds so there’s nothing to send at all.
